WILD & ANCIENT IRELAND

ITINERARY

​

Day 1: Arrive Dublin & travel to Waterford
Arrive Dublin airport where your driver/guide will be waiting to take you south to the city of Kilkenny to take a guided tour Kilkenny Castle before arriving in Waterford city for overnight. Late afternoon you will enjoy a guided walking tour of the Viking Triangle in Ireland’s oldest city.

 

Evening to relax and unwind from your trip.
 

Day 2: Biking the Waterford Greenway
After a leisurely breakfast collect your rental bike and begin your journey on the spectacular Waterford Greenway. Take time to visit Mount Congreve Gardens along the way on the 46 Kilometre stretch that takes in rolling countryside, viaducts, tunnels and stunning coastal scenery. Stop for a break at the Coach House Coffee Shop and on arrival in Dungarvan you have the option to return via the Greenway or take a transfer by van back to the city of Waterford for overnight.


Day 3: Waterford to Dingle
Departing Waterford by private transfer, your driver/guide will take you to the town of Lismore founded in the 6th century by St. Carthage as a monastic site. Take in the stunning views of Lismore Castle with photo opportunities and enjoy a walking tour with a local guide.

 

Later travel toward Killarney and out along the Dingle Peninsula with a stop at Inch Beach
before arriving in the town of Dingle for overnight. Time to explore the many pubs this evening.


Day 4: Dingle Peninsula
Free day to take a self-guided bike tour on the Dingle Peninsula including Slea Head, Dunmore Head, with magnificent beaches and views to the Blasket Islands. Enjoy ancient sites with abundant Ogham stones and beehive huts before returning to Dingle for overnight.

 

Day 5: Dingle – Blasket Islands
Today take a cruise from the harbour in Dingle to the Blasket Islands and spend some time hiking through these uninhabited islands. Suggest bringing a picnic lunch. Return to Dingle for overnight.

 

Day 6: Dingle to Clifden
Following breakfast, leave Dingle with your driver/guide and travel toward Tralee as you make your way to Tarbert and take the car ferry across the River Shannon and travel along the Clare coastline to Lahinch to arrive at the Cliffs of Moher, where you will have a chance to stroll and take some photos before heading through the limestone region of the Burren to Galway and then out through the unique bog landscape of Connemara surrounded by the Twelve Ben Mountains to the town of Clifden for overnight.


Evening to explore the lively pubs in the small town.
 

Day 7: Adventure Day
Today you can spend an adventurous day sea kayaking or hill walking with Real Adventures Connemara.

 

Options available for cave kayaking and night kayaking (extra cost depending on chosen activity).
 

Overnight in Clifden
 

Day 8: Connemara Free Day for own choice of activities
Today is a free day where you have the option to explore Connemara National Park on a hike. Travel to Ballyconneely to go horse riding on the beach. Take a seaweed foraging adventure and do some beach walking. Overnight in Clifden.

 

Day 9: Clifden to Dublin
Leaving Clifden after breakfast journey back with your driver/guide toward Galway and then on to Clonmacnoise to visit the 6th century monastic settlement founded by St. Ciaran on the banks of the River Shannon. Continue to your hotel in Dublin city for overnight.

 

Day 10: Dublin Airport to Home or extend in Dublin
Depart for Dublin Airport and your return flight the US.
