Vancouver Island is sparsely populated, with most locals living in two of the most popular cities on the island – Victoria, and Nanaimo. More than 360,000 people call the city of Victoria home. The city boasts lots of exotic restaurants, cozy cafes, art galleries, museums, gardens, and impeccable attractions. Nanaimo, the second most popular city on the island, is home to more than 100,000 people. The Harbor City, as it’s fondly called, features many museums, theatres, and music venues. So if you’re looking for a place to spend the weekend, Nanaimo has got you covered.

Outdoor adventure

If you love the outdoors, Vancouver Island will never disappoint. It is one of the world's leading destinations for whale watching. The adventurous traveler will be spoiled for choice and the island offers ample opportunities for  fishing, hiking, kayaking, cycling, wildlife watching and many more.

Hiking and Leisure Walking

Vancouver Island has countless miles of hiking trails ranging from a few hours strolls to a multi-day alpine excursion. The most popular trail on the island is the 47-mile West Coast Trail, which takes you through ancient old-growth rainforests and along the coasts. Hiking in Vancouver Island will leave you with fun-filled memories that will remain etched in your mind. Take a Wine Tasting Tour

With more than 100 different grape varieties including Ortega, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Gris, Vancouver Island produces some of the finest wines in the world. Take a Stroll along the Beach

Vancouver Island is home to some of the world’s most beautiful beaches featuring gorgeous mountain backdrops. And when you see the backdrop of some of these beaches, you can’t help but take a picture of it so you can keep the memories with you. One of the beaches perfect for a stroll during the day is Rathrevor Beach. Also, there are great spots for picnicking so you can spend the entire day exploring the beach.
