BORNEO - WHEN TO GO

WHEN TO GO

Borneo lies within the tropics and you can expect high humidity and rain all year round. The wettest months are usually between December and February when the Northeast Monsoon hits, so it's best to avoid this time of the year - especially December and January.   During this time conditions are unfavorable for spotting wildlife as much of it hides in the dense rainforest.

March to October are milder and dryer months and better for travel.  This is also the peak season and the best time to see orang-utans in the wild.

If you're interested in diving, April to December is considered the best time with July and August having the best visibility.  March to May is considered the best time of the year to see whale sharks.

June is turtle season on Lankayan island.
